Father of Faith, Part 1
1. “Leave your country, your people, and your father’s house
2. Go to the land I will show you.
3. I will make you become a great nation, and I will bless you;
4. I will make your name great, you will bless many people.
5. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse;
6. And all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
7. Abraham was 75 years old, and off he went as God told him
8. He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, and all their possessions and servants
9. He Arrived in Cana, where the Canaanites lived.
10. God spoke to Abraham and said, "I will give this land to your offspring."
11. Abraham worshipped God.
12. He continued traveling through Cana, worshipping and praying to God everywhere he pitched his tent.
13. Some time later, the word of the Lord came to Abram him in a vision:
14. "Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.”
15. But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord, what can you give me since I remain childless?
16. You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir.”
17. Then the word of the Lord came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.”
18. He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.”
19. Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”
20. Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.
